I like your writing style but, Napoleon would never be so blind to Illya's feelings that his fiance would be able to see what he couldn't. I don't believe they would not see or speak to each other for 8 months so that the engagement of one would be shocking news to the other. I can believe Illya keeping his feelings to himself but again, other people recognizing he's in love with Napoleon before Napoleon knows? I can't buy it.
I do hope to read more of your work because I do like the way you write.

You are such a guilty pleasure! And I sympathized so strongly with the emotional devastation Illya feels at the hour of the wedding - been there, never want to feel that again. Good, good description!

Despite my slight reservations about some of your takes on the characters, I thoroughly enjoyed this, and found the ending delightful.
